About
A programme of Conservation Volunteering to improve local green spaces – and your health. Join in whenever suits you.
Norfolk Environmental Action Team August 2025
Here below is your programme of lovely fun outdoor activities for August. We are never sure whether to take raincoats or suncream – or both – but we carry on (pretty much) whatever the weather!
I will however be going on holiday this month - since I am stuck in the office more often than not, I don’t suppose anyone will miss me (!) but please ask all participants to contact my colleague Bex Cross bex.cross@tcv.org.uk for all enquiries until the middle of August. They can still use the same phone number – 07740 899 691 – for calls or texts (or whatsapp) but it will be her answering it not me. Whilst I am away it is going to be difficult for us to provide extra spaces if the minibus is full so please can you ask people to book their space on the minibus if coming for any tasks during 1st-8th August, by contacting Bex.
2 new woodland sites to work at this month (a bit of welcome cover in either baking sun or torrential rain) and we add Ragwort to our list of invasive bullying plants to control (Himalayan Balsam, Bracken, Variegated Yellow Archangel). Ragwort is great for insects but must be removed from specific areas which are grazed in order to protect the rest of the habitat. August also sees us transition from tackling invasives to cutting and raking meadows as soon as the wildflowers start to set seed.
So I hope everyone has a nice time without me – I’ll be back…
All the best,
- Mark."
