Stennetts Transport specialise in bulk transport and storage of animal feed. We offer nationwide collection and delivery of food, feedstuffs for human and animal consumption. They have an exciting opportunity for an apprentice administrator to join the team.

The role would see you being responsible for routing 44 tonne vehicles all over the UK. Arranging backloads, punctures and breakdowns, studying vehicle routes and eliminating dead mileage. You will be engaging with customers from all over the UK, e.g. well-known food and drink brands. You will be accountable to the senior transport planners and the general manager.

Day to activities will include:

Preparing quotes for customers.
Documenting vehicle costings, and revenue using excel and database systems.
Ensuring supplies are procured for the vehicles managed
Analysing and reporting on vehicle data (full vehicle tracking and telemetry ,speeds, location, engine revs, fuel economy, tachograph data, harsh braking etc)
Managing payments and invoices as needed.
Working with accounts department to ensure all procedures followed.
Social media- assisting with development of the company website, Facebook and Twitter accounts. Key to this will be obtaining great photographic images and video. We are actively working towards enhancing the benefits of positive media for staff retention, staff recruitment and customer and potential customer perception.
Supporting meetings – taking notes, presentation preparation and setting up hardware/software as needed.

Entry requirements

GCSE in maths and English at grade 4 (C), or above.

Skills required

Great telephone manner. - Essential
Completely IT literate.- Essential
A Team player.- Essential
Able to use own initiative.- Essential

Quick thinking and have a great personality.
Great people skills are essential.
Attention to detail.
The most essential quality is to be willing to take responsibility for your actions, and be completely honest should you make a mistake.

Training to be Provided

Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship

Things to consider

The role is office based, and there will be long periods of computer work and telephone work. A car driving license is essential as you may have to attend meetings anywhere in the UK. There is a requirement of being on call nights and weekends during the apprenticeship, therefore you may need to attend the office outside the hours of public transport. After Covid restrictions end, customer meetings and site meetings may be required anywhere in the UK. This may involve overnight hotel stays. Paid overtime may be available and required over these hours at peak times of year. E.g. Harvest and Christmas.

Future Prospects

There is potential to become a full time traffic planner. There are further career progressions onto transport manager.
