Volunteering Opportunities Open Event - Ickworth House The National Trust

This event has taken place.

23rd September 2021

Ickworth is hosting a Volunteer Recruitment Day on Monday 18th October 2020.

This will be an opportunity for anyone who may be interested in Volunteering at Ickworth to find out a little bit more about what we do here.

The day comes with free entry to site to explore the House, Park and Gardens and more information about what is available on the day will be supplied on entry.

We are a Conservation Charity, open to the public to enjoy beautiful spaces both indoor and outdoors, cafes, a shop, and an accredited museum Treasure House and 1800 acres of parkland.

Volunteering is a great chance to learn something new, build confidence, make friends or add something to a CV.

If this is something you feel might be helpful to share with the people you work with, I have attached 2 posters to either print or email out.

A little more detail about what sort of opportunities we have available for people over the age of 16:

  • House Host; positioned at the entrance and exit of the House; these volunteers set up the story of what Visitors will see next – this could be talking about projects going on, exhibitions, evaluations, a short introduction to the family or making sure the visitors know which routes are best for their needs.

  • Room Story teller; These Volunteers are based in rooms around the House, they have a folder with all the best facts of the rooms, but they build their own extensive catalogue of knowledge, facts and favourite stories as they progress.

  • Outdoor Visitor Welcome; based at the front welcome area, car park and the closer walks and gardens, a friendly face to help visitors as they first come in to and then leave their Ickworth visit.

  • Commercial Host; based in our West Wing, these volunteers welcome visitors in to our café and shop and help visitors leaving the House Experience find the next part of their journey.

  • Garden Volunteer; These Volunteers volunteer between Tuesday and Friday and support with the upkeep of the Formal Gardens, this could be weeding, edging, strimming, or cutting back shrubs.

  • Basic training will be supplied to cover knowledge and equipment.
