Volunteer Youth Group Helper

Woodcraft Folk - Diss

About the opportunity

Do you want to gain experience working with children or young people? Could you help them to explore big ideas like equality, the environment and co-operation?

Woodcraft Folk is an educational movement for children and young people, designed to develop self-confidence and activity in society, with the aim of building a better, fairer world.

We are looking for volunteers to help out with our new Pioneer group in Diss, which caters for young people from 9 to 12 years old, and meets weekly during school term times.

At Pioneers, our young members develop new skills and learn about the world through games, crafts, debates, drama and outdoor activities.

About Woodcraft Folk

Woodcraft Folk is a movement for children and young people. We offer a place where children will grow in confidence, learn about the world and start to understand how to value our planet and each other. Our national website is www.woodcraft.org.uk

Every week thousands of Woodcraft volunteers and young people meet in school halls, community venues and a host of other places to learn about big ideas through fun activities like singing, playing and debating.

Our aim is to have great fun, but also to try and develop children's self-confidence and build their awareness of society around them.

What are we looking for?

Woodcraft Folk thrives on the talents, commitment and enthusiasm of volunteers from many different backgrounds. We are looking for people who can work well in a small team to help our group leaders deliver fun and creative activities inspired by Woodcraft Folk's aims and principles.

You will need to be able to communicate effectively with other volunteers and with young people, and to keep our groups a safe and supportive environment for our young members.

You will need to be available to help with group activities that take place on a weekday evening, whether you can volunteer every week or only a few times a term.

Practical Considerations

Our groups run a programme that includes a mix of indoor and outdoor sessions.

Potential volunteers must be able to follow Woodcraft Folk's Aims and Principles and our Safeguarding Policy.

Volunteers will be required to become full members of Woodcraft Folk.
