Main description

Working with our retail area supporting our sales and till assistants; we are looking for motivated individuals who can follow instructions and communicate with customers. You will support our mission to offer a memorable garden centre experience; delivering wow customer service and giving employees, customers, suppliers and community a reason to smile.

Key duties

• Moving trolleys, throughout the day you will be collecting empty trolleys from the car park and returning them to the shop areas
• Assisting customers by carrying purchases to their vehicles, particularly with heavy or bulky items, helping load into cars and answering basic queries
• Moving stock from the warehouse and moving promotional materials and displays
• Maintaining the cleanliness of the garden centre and stock areas, carrying out cleaning duties and minor maintenance works

Personal skills 

• Good verbal communication skills, and customer service skills, confident in dealing with members of the public
• Able to follow instructions from your supervisors, and work on your own initiative
• You are able to lift, carry or move products and purchases (e.g., large compost bags, stone garden pots, garden furniture etc.)

Work rota

• You’ll need to work one alternating day each weekend – Saturday one weekend, Sunday the next
• You’ll need to work some bank holidays (as part of a rota with other assistants)

Working with

• Reporting into the Shop Floor Manager
• Working closely with rest of retail team and other departments
