General Construction
This work experience opportunity will work closely with the site engineering team, operating from the external site environment.
Previous experience is not necessarily required, however experience of working on a building site, farm or general labouring and maintenance is beneficial. On-the-job training typically provided; specialised training can increase job opportunities.
Responsibilities and duties during a work experience placement can vary. They may include cleaning and preparing a job site, loading and delivering materials, and potentially using a variety of tools such as levels, lifts, power drills, grinders, saws, pressure washers, and water spraying equipment. You will be required to assist other members of the site team to prepare for works.
Within the highways construction team, work experience placements may control traffic, set up markers, cones and fencing and may flag vehicles to control the flow of traffic.
The ideal candidate will be capable of working on own initiative whilst working in a team environment.
Previous laboring experience is desirable and a valid CSCS Green Labourers Skills card is essential.
A CSCS 1 day Health and Safety Awareness Training course and CSCS Health & Safety Touch screen test must be completed.

About the Project
The Gull Wing is an iconic and important bridge for Lowestoft, being delivered by Suffolk County Council and built by Farrans Construction. Opening in 2023, the bridge will be a much-needed third crossing over the towns Lake Lothing. The Gull Wing will reduce traffic congestion in the town, regenerate the area and attract new investment for the local economy.
We can offer week work placements over the entire length of the Project, or happy to discuss other durations.
We are happy to discuss placements in any department, either within Farrans or our Supply Chain working on the project.
