Site Engineer

This work experience opportunity will work closely with the site engineering team, on either of the three areas of main Gull Wing activity – Roads, Marine and Structures. The role will operate within the immediate construction environment. Site Engineers are involved in the process of designing, planning, maintaining and eventually constructing within the various areas. They also have a key role in identifying risks and deciding on the best course of action for the intricate programme of works.

The placement can expect to assist the Site Engineering team in various on-site activities. Occasionally the placement will include in-office activity such as learning how to use a range of equipment and computer software, building an understanding of the whole construction process. The placement may involve the duty to assist in the study of drawings and technical documents, translating these into a construction methodology, which will be developed using a project planning software into a programme of activities. This will outline the scope of how the project is to be designed, procured, and constructed in the most efficient and safe manner.

The candidate will be required to effectively communicate with the project team at all levels where necessary. This will see the individual work closely alongside an established civil engineer, giving opportunity to learn significantly about the working environment on a high-profile project.

A valid CSCS Green Skills card is essential, previous laboring/construction experience and/or studies is desirable.

A CSCS 1 day Health and Safety Awareness Training course and CSCS Health & Safety Touch screen test must be completed.

Please get in touch with a copy of your CV and Cover Letter to info@gullwingbridge.co.uk
