Employer Description
N2S operate in a 30,000sq ft facility in Bury St Edmunds. Within this area N2S has two laboratories where new sustainable recycling processes are being developed. We facilitate collection and recycling of IT and Telecoms equipment for business customers. 

They have an exciting opportunity for two apprentices to join their team.

The apprentices will work in biochemistry laboratory and will be involved in day to day research and development and operation. They will provide assistance in processing unite, data collection, stock solutions and media preparations, and will obtain the knowledge of various general laboratory techniques, calculations and analytical chemistry instrument.

The apprentice’s role will be, but not limited to:

Providing technical support for the research team.
Monitoring and recording scientific data for different assigned projects.
Demonstrating technical competence in the use of specified instrumentation and laboratory equipment.
Running the process area of the laboratory in an efficient manner.

Entry requirements
GCSE Grade 5 or above in maths, English and Science is essential.
 A Level in Science or a Level 3 equivalent is essential.

Skills required
Essential

Strong high school mathematical and science background,
Competency with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Desirable

Basic analytical chemistry techniques,
Familiarity with laboratory safety and environmental guidelines
Personal qualities
Essential

Follow the process operations within required timescale,
Good communication skills,
Perform duties in timely and conscious manner,
Quick to gasp new ideas and concepts,
Flexible approach,
Willingness to work in team.

Full Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship

Things to consider
A great opportunity to work with a team developing ground breaking methods and processes for sustainable recycling of electronic waste. The majority of work on site will be in one of our two laboratories where appropriate discipline needed for this environment must be maintained.

What Next?
After successful completion of the apprenticeship you will be considered as laboratory technician with the opportunity to work in different (bio)chemistry laboratory as senior laboratories at universities or research and development departments.
