Prima Electronic Services are a Contract Electronics Manufacturer based in St. Ives, Cambridgeshire. Specialising in PCB assembly and mechanical build, from initial prototype quantities to high volume production. Prima have been operating for over 30 years and are focussed on being agile while maintaining a high quality standard. Prima currently employs around 60 people who work in both factory/lab and office environments.
There is an opportunity for two engineering apprentice to join the team.
The apprentice will undertake a structured training process where they will spend time in each aspect of the business, gaining experience throughout the entire process. The process is designed to enable the candidate to work towards being highly skilled engineer, technician or operator. When the process is complete, the candidate will have the freedom to decide which area they want to progress in to forward their personal development. The candidate will train to be able to perform various tasks but are not expected to have experience in these areas prior to their training.
General tasks and training include:
Run various types of machinery to reach an assembled product.
Inspect the circuit boards to ensure high quality
Hand solder components and wires
Program and test circuit boards.
Fault find circuit boards down to component level
Setup and maintain test equipment.
Work towards and meet customer deadlines.
5 GCSEs at C or above including Maths, English and Science or equivalent.
Both literate and computer literate – able to read and write both with their hands and on a computer using Microsoft Office.
Good communication skills
Able to follow instructions well and ask if they are unsure.

Things to consider
Apprentice will be working in both a factory environment using different types of machinery and also in a electronics lab. They will often be required to use a computer as well as different tools such as a soldering iron.
Depending on the outcome of the Apprenticeship. The Apprentice may be able to move on to further education and training at higher levels.
