Kickstart Scheme jobs are normally 25 hours per week and pay at least the National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage depending on how old you are. Employer Description

Excell Timber are  proven experts with over 30 years’ specialist experience of installing timber windows and doors in all kinds of properties throughout the East of England, from historic houses and timber-framed cottages to new-build family homes. We also understand the sensitivities of working on listed buildings or in conservation areas. Therefore, we can provide practical solutions that are aesthetically pleasing and conform to regulatory requirements.

Main Description

We are looking for a Trainee to gain valuable work experience within our small family business, we have been trading for over 30 years and have a good hard earner reputation to uphold.  Excell is keen to offer a trainee the opportunity to join us.

You will be working 25-30 hours per week for six months where you will be paid a salary at National Minimum Wage depending on  age.  You will need to arrive at the office address at 07.30 hours to be driven to  site for 08.00 start in the company van.  You will finish at 16.30 (4.30pm) and driven back to the office by 17.00 (5pm) two to three times per week

Key Tasks

Prepare the work area inside the clients house, laying down dust sheets, clearing the area of furniture/ curtains etc

Prepare tools for removal an d installation of frames/ door, carrying out trimming, scribing, plastering and general making good around the work area

Cleaning up, hoovering and leaving the area in a good clean and tidy condition

To clean and maintain good quality tools and equipment

Personal Requirements

  • The Trainee age group must be 16 -24 years of age
  • Must be in receipt of Universal Credit
  • Must be polite, respectful and have good interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Must have a strong willingness to learn new and transferable skills both in removing old window frames and installing new frames
  • Be able to work both inside and outside in different environments and weathers
  • Be Strong, fit and able to work at heights and be comfortable climbing ladders to at least first floor of a domestic house once fully trained and wearing  PPE
  • Must enjoy practical work and working with their hands
  • Able to work with power tools safely and treat them respectfully
  • Creative and take pride in their work or whatever task they undertake

Desirable

Full clean driving licence is a bonus but not required throughout the traineeship but the trainee must be able to get to the office site in Pakenham on time

Training to be provided

Excell intend to offer an apprenticeship with NVQ level 2 in Fenestration in conjunction with CERTASS to the right candidate at the end of the traineeship
