Employer Description

Engineering Systems & Projects (ESP) is an organisation specialising in the Management, Design, Manufacture, Installation and Commissioning of a wide range of Mechanical; Electrical; Instrumentation and Control Systems.

ESP's personnel are fully trained and qualified to manufacture a vast range of products including control panels (ATEX or standard approved), conveyor systems, plant relocation & reconfiguration whilst minimising impact on production.

Consequently, ESP is able to offer a complete portfolio of project engineering and consultancy services. These include full turnkey solutions including up front studies, specification, detailed design, installation, commissioning and training or any subset as required.

There is an opportunity for an Engineering Maintenance Apprentice to join the team.

Main description

Main responsibilities:

  • Reading drawings
  • Replacing parts
  • Servicing of equipment
  • Drilling
  • Grinding
  • General Fabrication
  • Site Installation
  • Creating records for breakdowns and maintaining a maintenance system
  • Working on maintenance shift work on client sites.
    Working with designers and handling drawings
    Working with project managers on site on installation works

Entry requirements

GCSE Grade 5 or above in maths and English, or equivalent, is essential.

Skills required

  • Good with hands
  • Has a good engineering knowledgebase
  • Can read drawings
  • Good use of hand tools

Training to be Provided

Level 3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician Apprenticeship

Things to consider

There is a varied workload. The role involves site work. You will occasionally be working away. Part of the role is creating maintenance records – occasionally working on PC. You not work bank holidays. Wage will be reviewed after 1 year, and overtime is paid at an increased rate.

Future Prospects

You can develop your skills in maintenance across a broad range of engineering practices and sites. There is opportunity of a full time role on completion of the apprenticeship.
