Social Work Apprentice

3-years fixed term contract

Are you motivated to train to become a registered social worker?

Norfolk County Council is excited to offer social work apprenticeship posts starting in January 2023. Our apprenticeship programme offers the opportunity to study for a fully funded social work degree with our partner University of East Anglia, while working for Norfolk County Council and receiving a salary.

Through the 3-year apprenticeship programme you will gain experience of working in a range of social work services within the local authority, including time in both Adult Social Services and Children’s Services. You will also regularly attend university in Norwich for teaching sessions, workshops, seminars and tutorials to develop your skills and knowledge. You will be supported throughout the programme by mentors in the workplace.

Entry criteria

We are looking for resilient and motivated applicants who have experience in social care and can demonstrate the skills and knowledge for entry to the social work degree (see PCF - Point of entry to training | www.basw.co.uk)

You will need to have at least two years direct experience of working with children and families or adults with care and support needs
This is a degree programme so you will need to demonstrate your academic ability by having level 3 qualifications that are equivalent to 96 UCAS points (e.g. 3 A Levels at grade C or equivalent including BTEC, NVQ, Access to HE), or higher.
You will also need to have GCSEs in English or English Language and Mathematics at grade C/4 or above, or an approved equivalent such as functional skills level 2.
You will need to show all of your original certificates to us as part of the application process. If you cannot find these, you can order replacements online.
You will need a driving licence and use of a vehicle - or confirm that you'll be able to travel for work if you do not have a vehicle.
On successful completion of the integrated degree apprenticeship you will be awarded a BA (Hons) in Social Work and guaranteed a post as a newly qualified social worker.

The posts will be based across the county in a range of locations.
