Job Description

An Infrastructure Technician delivers technical support to external and internal customers.  They will plan and perform the design, installation and connectivity of computer systems and network infrastructure to ensure the steady operation of the organisations IT resources. A technicians role will also include assisting and adjusting all new and current network hardware, software and communications technology.  If you like fixing computers, problem-solving and understanding technical problems then this job role could be for you.

Entry Requirements

Individual employers will set their own entry requirements but this is likely to include five GCSE's grades 9-4 including English, Maths and a Science or Technology subject.

Entry could be gained through an apprenticeship 

Career path and progression

You may be able to work your way up within the company that you are working for and  could progress to roles such as senior developer, programmer, systems analyst and project manager or you could choose to freelance and have your own IT business.

Starting Salary

£20,000 to £25,000
