Seajacks are in an exciting development phase for both the company and their fleet of vessels. We are currently seeking energetic and motivated team players to assist our offshore vessel operations in both the renewable and oil/gas industries.

As an Able Seafarer you will work as a member of the navigation department on board our vessels carrying out watchkeeping duties, maintaining the safety and security of the vessel, cargo and personnel on board and undertaking a range of practical seafarer skills covering ropework, anchoring and mooring activities and operations.

You will adhere to safe and environmentally responsible working practices including International regulations and will have a range of security duties. An Able Seafarer must be able to work safely in enclosed spaces and at heights. They must also be able to respond to vessel emergencies, administer emergency first aid, carry out fire prevention and fire-fighting duties, be able to use survival techniques in the water and to be able to operate survival craft and rescue boats.

The qualifications and certification achieved by an Able Seafarer means he/she will be able to work on board any type and size of ship in any part of the world.

This is a 2-year, level 2 apprenticeship scheme, combining three ‘four week’ college phases that are timetabled over a two year period combined with extensive practical training onboard the Seajacks fleet of vessels.

Able Seafarer Apprenticeship Scheme candidates should be based within a 40-mile radius of Seajacks head office in Great Yarmouth, preferably have GCSE qualifications in English and Maths. An excellent work attitude and the ability to develop the required practical skills and competences needed to work in a multicultural environment on board a vessel; which may mean being away from home for extended periods of time.

In addition, Apprentices will need to be able to pass a Seafarer medical, including eyesight and hearing requirements.
