Main description
R.Palmer and Sons Limited carry out repairs to farm machinery and steel fabrication, making gates, railings etc. and they are looking for an apprentice Engineer to join and learn within their team.
Main Duties:
- Repairing farm machinery
- Steel fabricating
- Tractor repairs and servicing
- Full range of farm machinery repairs and servicin
- Welding repairs to HGV trucks and trailers
- Car trailer repairs and servicing
- Fabricating wide range of products, mainly from mild steel and some stainless steel, such as gates, railings, garden furniture, structural steels etc.
Entry requirements
Desirable grades would be 3-9 in GCSE Maths and English.
Skills required
- Problem solving skills
- Team working
Training to be Provided
The learner will be studying the Engineering Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard qualification.
Day release to West Suffolk College.
Functional skills will be studied if equivalent qualifications are not held.
Things to consider
Role is workshop based, but will involve going out to site for repairs and installing work that has been made in the workshop.
Future Prospects
The apprenticeship will lead to a full time position for the correct candidate.
