Main description

We are a family and run owned business who are one of the market leaders in Foundation drilling tools. We have a state of the art manufacturing facility boasting an impressive array of cutting-edge machinery for the prodcution of Foundation Drilling Tools and we are looking to take on an apprentice welder.

As an engineering operative apprentice you will become part of our team, fabricating and assesmbling drilling tools and equipment and utilising.

Main Duties:

  • Mig Welding with Mild steel wire.
  • Stainless steel wire and hard-facing wire.
  • Oxy-actelyne cutting equipment.
  • Welding rotator associated hand tools.
  • Familirisation with associated equipment within the facility
  • All work is to be carried out following Health and Safety Protocols and adhering to quality standards.

Entry requirements

Essential:

GCSE or Equivalent in Maths and English Grades 4-9.

  • Initiative

Training to be provided

The learner will be studying the Engineering Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard qualification.
Day release to West Suffolk College.
Functional skills will be studied if equivalent qualifications are not held. 

Things to consider

Our ideal candidate will be hard working, keen to learn, and have access to their own transport. Overtime may be available during busy periods. Our location is rural and there is no easy access through public transport so access to your own transport is essential.

Future prospects

This apprenticeship could lead you to a full-time job within the manufacturing sector, with further opportunities to expand your fabrication skills. Through further studies and testing you could become a coded welder or weld-coordinator or find new and interesting ways in which to use your skill set.
