Main description
Shearline are proud to be one of the few UK manufacturing companies that can offer a complete service including design for manufacture, prototyping and 1st batch production through to full scale manufacture and world-wide delivery. There is an opportunity for 4 engineering apprentices to join the team.
Main Duties:
- To undertake engineering tasks allocated by departmental Supervisor, which are deemed by them to be within your capabilities.
- To attend WSC on day release.
- To work on the basis of continual assessment towards building up a portfolio and to complete job write ups as directed by the Assessor.
- To satisfy the Assessor that the required standard has been achieved in each module.
- Ensure all company standards are promoted and maintained.
- Ensure safe working practices at all times.
- Ensure commitment and application of the company Quality, Environmental and HS Policies.
- Help identify any areas for improvement and implement.
- Maintain areas and equipment in accordance with the Kaizen 5S workplace organisation standard.
- Carry out any other duties which may from time to time be reasonably requested to assist in the day to day running of the company.
Entry requirements
Maths and English – Grades C and above or level 5 or above - Essential.

Training to be Provided
You will be supported in your studies towards an NVQ Level 3 in Engineering, which together with the practical experience you gain, will provide you with the perfect platform for an exciting career ahead.
Day release to West Suffolk College.
Functional skills will be studied if equivalent qualifications are not held.
Things to consider
You will be learning from skilled engineers and therefore must have the ability to take notes and have listening skills. Work can be repetitive and attention to detail is essential. Must be focused at all times.
Future Prospects
Full-time role as a skilled engineer. After completion of your apprenticeship, you will also be given the opportunity to complete further training.
