Are you a practical, hands-on engineer who thrives in fast-paced harvest environments? Do you enjoy keeping machinery running at peak performance when it matters most? We’re looking for an Engineering Operative to join our Harvest Engineering Team and play a vital role in keeping our operations moving during the most critical time of the year.

This is a key position within our harvesting operation, where your skills will directly impact uptime, productivity, and crop delivery. You’ll be working with a wide range of harvesting and processing equipment, solving real problems, and making a tangible difference every day.

The Role

As an Engineering Operative, you’ll support the Engineering Team in delivering responsive, high-quality technical support across all harvest operations. Your focus will be on minimising downtime, maintaining reliability, and ensuring production targets and SLAs are consistently met - especially during peak season.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Maintain, repair, and fault-find on harvesting and processing machinery to keep operations running efficiently.
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns, working with the Engineering Team Leader to prioritise work and minimise downtime.
  • Carry out all work safely and to a high engineering standard, following company procedures and best practice.
  • Identify and implement improvements to machinery reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Support engineering projects, including fabrication, modifications, and seasonal readiness work.
  • Manage tools, spares, and parts to ensure ongoing operational readiness.
  • Share knowledge, develop skills, and support colleagues within the engineering team.
  • Provide technical support to third-party or off-site operations when required.

Working Hours

Peak summer harvest: Approx. 60 hours per week, 12-hour shifts
(6am–6pm), Sunday–Thursday or Tuesday–Saturday
Winter season: Up to 55 hours per week
