About

29th September 2026

Jackson Engineers from across the regions came together earlier this week - and built prosthetic hands as part of a team-building exercise.

The annual Engineers Day was held at Wyboston Lakes Resort in Bedfordshire. The theme of this year’s event was supervision and better understanding areas of work, topics that were reflected in the morning’s presentations.

In the afternoon the engineers split into groups and worked together to construct mechanical prosthetic hands. The challenge was organised by a company called Team Tactics, who devise team building activities that combine collaboration, creativity and social impact. The prosthetics built this week will be checked by quality control before they are sent to developing countries to help children in need.

To spice up the challenge, participants had to wear a restrictive glove on their dominant hand, forcing the teams to work collaboratively and rely on each other to build the device.

The engineers also had a bag to design and a letter to write, to be given to the recipients alongside the hands. The Regional Engineers table won best design, chosen by the Team Tactics host.

The prosthetics will donated to those in need in countries such as Mexico, Tanzania, Rwanda, India and Brazil
