Employer Description
We are a CNC machining sub contract precision engineering company with extensive CNC machining capabilities; including 5 axis machining, turning, milling, sliding heads and turned parts.
Main description
BSP Engineering Services Ltd believes in building and training the future of the company by working with local education establishments to provide the foundation of theory, alongside working with our team of very experienced engineers to provide the hands on knowledge that cannot always be learned from a text book.
Main Duties:
- You will learn a wide range of metal working skills and techniques, including setting and running of turning and milling machines.
- You will be involved in skilled, complex work, machining components from specialist materials using cnc tools such as lathes, vertical and horizontal milling, and single and multi axis machine tool centres.
- You will be expected to use set up sheets and drawings to machine various part to a high level of accuracy and to tight deadlines.
- You will expected to demonstrate good communication and listening skills.
- You will be expected to adhere to all policies and procedures and ensure workplace safety is practised at all times.
- You will be expected to maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Entry requirements
Candidates must have at least 4 GCSEs at grade 4/ C, including English, Science and Maths (or the Level 2 Functional Skills equivalent) before they join the apprenticeship.
A GCSE qualification in Resistant Materials or Engineering would also be desirable but is not essential.

Training to be Provided
The learner will be studying the Machining Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard qualification.
Functional skills will be studied if equivalent qualifications are not held.

Applicants who are currently undertaking or sitting GCSEs should include their predicted grades on their application. If successful for this position, you will be offered a conditional place on the apprenticeship, subject to you meeting the entry requirements listed above.
Future Prospects
A position may be available for the right candidate following successful completion of the apprenticeship. The business is looking for somebody who wants to develop and gain a position following their apprenticeship.
