About

28th July 2025

Thetford Town Council has unveiled a striking new train-themed planter, serving as a colourful tribute to 200 years of railway heritage. This innovative planter, which has been installed outside the Carnegie, forms part of the town’s 2025 Anglia in Bloom 2025 entry, celebrating the bicentenary of the railway.

The concept for the planter was developed by Thetford Town Council as part of its efforts to create a standout installation for this year’s campaign and was brought to Warren Services to help transform itfrom an idea into a reality.

Designed in collaboration with the Thetford Academy Gardening Club students and supported by local designer David Bradley through detailed CAD drawings, we fabricated and manufactured the planter, donating both time and materials to this project.

Local volunteer, El’s Painting, painted the finished planter alongside town council members, with the painting supplies being generously donated by Wickes Thetford.

Once complete, the students from the Gardening Club returned to work alongside the Town Team to plant the display, using flowers purchased through the Thetford in Bloom fund, a community-supported initiative financed by local businesses. A true community project!
