About Tour Operators

Tour Operators are responsible for organising and preparing holiday tours in conjunction with airlines, hotels and other transport companies to fulfil the requirements of their customers. They provide customers with advice about where to travel as well as the best means of reaching their destination.

There are no specific qualifications needed to become a tour operator however, good GCSE or A level grades are likely to be viewed positively. Work experience in the industry would certainly be an advantage together with good organisational skills, previous experience in a customer service role, and an interest in travel.

Volunteering would be a great place to start if you are interested in this industry, this shows that you are keen, willing and committed and looks good on your CV!
