Disability Confident

Disability Confident

The Government's Disability Confident scheme supports employers to make the most of the talents disabled people can bring to the workplace.

Disability Confident organisations play a leading role in changing attitudes for the better. They’re changing behaviour and cultures in their own businesses, networks and communities, and reaping the benefits of inclusive recruitment practices.

The scheme

Over 16,000 organisations in the UK have signed up.

Disability Confident organisations play a leading role in changing attitudes for the better. They’re changing behaviour and cultures in their own businesses, networks and communities, and reaping the benefits of inclusive recruitment practices.

The scheme helps employers recruit and retain great people, and:

  • draw from the widest possible pool of talent
  • secure high quality staff who are skilled, loyal and hard working
  • improve employee morale and commitment by demonstrating that they treat all employees fairly

It also helps customers and other businesses identify those employers who are committed to equality in the workplace.

Help for young people

We've used the list of Disability Confident Employers provided by the government to identify those organisations in Suffolk and Norfolk -that we work with - that are signed up to the scheme.  You can access this list by clicking on the logo below, or by using the Disability Confident tag, within the filter on our organisations index

The government also offers guidance for young disabled people to find and stay in work. For more information on that, please see the advice from The Department of Work and pensions.
