Overview

The energy industry is extremely prevalent in our region, not only due to the historically rich oil and gas pickings from the North Sea, but because of an evolving nuclear power strategy and huge offshore wind opportunities.  Careers can span everything involved from production to the consumption of energy, including manufacturing and engineering, extraction, refining, generation, sale and distribution.

Ultimately it's about getting energy to where it is needed and in the right form, either underground or over-ground, maintaining equipment and supporting customers as well as the design and manufacture of equipment that extracts energy sources, generating electricity within power stations and engineering the future's renewable power solutions.

Take a look at the various links and job roles below to see what could be in store for you.

  • Proposed nuclear power station Sizewell C may provide up to 3,600 construction roles, 1,500 management and a further 550 support roles during the construction phase
  • The New Anglia LEP predicts Norfolk and Suffolk have the potential to benefit from an additional 6,150 full time well-paid skilled Offshore Wind jobs by 2032
  • The East of England is the second largest centre for energy in the UK which includes oil and gas, offshore and onshore wind energy, solar, nuclear and biomass-fired power generation
