About Us

Crown Chicken LTD is part of the Cranswick PLC group.

Crown Ltd. consists of our Crown Farms and Crown Milling operations.

At Crown Milling we produce animal feed, milling cereals grown in the local area to feed our livestock within the Cranswick business, as well as external customers. This process enables both our poultry and pork Cranswick businesses to be fully integrated from farm to fork.

At Crown Farms, we are proud to be the first UK chicken producer to invest in the revolutionary Nestborn ‘on-farm hatching’ system, improving the welfare of our birds. With over 50 farms, our varied teams are responsible for different elements of the entire farming process from breeding and hatching, through to rearing and growing.  

We recognise that, as farmers ourselves, we are custodians of the countryside and natural environment and are working hard to reduce our impact. Our goal is for all Cranswick owned farms to be Carbon Neutral by 2030. We also carried out a biodiversity baseline study in 2021 and have ambitious plans to build upon this via various initiatives. We plan to achieve these goals by using low carbon footprint diets, sequestering carbon through our own farms and independent producers.

We have just under 300 employees whose hard work and dedication have been key to ensuring the success of Crown Ltd., through their commitment to achieving the very highest of standards across all areas of our business.

Our people work in a variety of roles, from Milling Operatives and HGV Drivers at Crown Milling, to Farm Assistants working daily with our Farm Managers at Crown Farms overseeing our Breeder and Broiler poultry units, as well as our office based professionals who support the operations and running of the business.

We are always keen to employ experienced people within our teams and we are also committed to ensuring the continuity of our business through the development of future generations.

We are now offering apprenticeship schemes for anyone wanting to get into the poultry farming sector with the view of taking them as permanent staff members.
