Established in 1929 the Owl has always been a bakery which makes everything on site and we continue to bake around the clock to this day.
Our shop is crammed with a tempting variety of bread, cakes, cookies and savouries and we offer a fresh salad bar too. We consider all dietary requirements and specialise in vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and decaffeinated products. We are lucky to have tables on the pavement outside facing south where customers can sit and watch Holt life go by.
Our secret garden to the rear has an attractive, paved terrace and colourful borders. This peaceful sun-trap, away from the noise and bustle of the town, is a perfect place to meet friends or escape to for a relaxing glass of wine or coffee. Inside, the Georgian dining room is light and airy with natural wood, mirrors and cascading plants. It is also centrally heated for those cold winter days and offers free wifi.

Claudia Pollinger is the hands-on owner and chef at The Owl Tearooms in Holt. She has an inexplicable compulsion to cook and baking has always been a life-long passion. All her learning has been in the kitchen, through watching, practising and perfecting. After setting up and running an Italian café in Goa in the 1990’s, she returned and worked as a pastry chef for Antony Worrall-Thomson at two of his London restaurants. In 2002, she and her husband, Ben, moved to Corfu and set up a catering business and restaurant on the island. With all the Mediterranean had to offer, they made the most of the unrivalled quality of the food and sunshine for 9 years before returning to England to put their two children through school. The Owl is a veritable institution and is a perfect place for Claudia to express her love of food and to deliver the joy it brings.
As partner in the business, Ben can be found anywhere at The Owl as chef, general fixer, supporter and organiser extraordinaire.

The Owl Tearooms has a busy bakery shop and espresso bar, where we have a team of two who serve customers and make coffees.
We currently have opportunities to work within our Bakery/Expresso Bar as well as the kitchen too, this is a very friendly and supportive kitchen and we all work closely together with the front of house to get the very best result we can.
