Stowmarket High School has one of the strongest and most successful Sixth Forms in the county. We have been in the top three Sixth Forms for A* – C performance in the county for over three years consecutively.
As well as offering a variety of A2 courses we have vocational courses on offer and Year 12 students have the opportunity to take the EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) at level 3. This is recognised by Oxford and Cambridge, Medical and Veterinary Colleges, Russell Group Universities and all HE institutions and is beneficial when preparing for Higher Education interviews. We also provide a rich programme of curricular and extracurricular activities delivered in a welcoming environment to complement the academic life of our Sixth Form.
Students from Stowmarket High School Sixth Form are very successful in securing high level opportunities at Russell Group Universities and with leading companies. The majority of our students go on to a Higher Education course or gain employment on completion of their courses.
There is a rising trend of students gaining Higher Level Apprenticeships in recent years with top companies. We are keen to support this and have established business links with our Enterprise Network.
Students are offered a place in the Sixth Form if they have achieved a minimum of five 9 - 4 grades at GCSE. Certain A level subjects however have grade specific requirements for entry. There is also the opportunity to add further courses in their second year.
