Job Description

The role of a Community Sport and Health Officer is to initiate and encourage behavior change in local residents with regards to engagement in sport and physical activity across local communities.  They will distribute information and organise sport-related projects, classes, programmes, coaching, club development and training to encourage communities to participate in sport of all kinds, they will also address issues of health, crime and social inclusion.

Entry Requirements

Entry into this role is possible through an apprenticeship.  You will usually require five GCSE's at grade 4 or above including English and maths.

A degree in the following subjects may increase your chances:

  • health and exercise sciences
  • leisure studies
  • physical education
  • recreation or leisure management
  • sport development or management
  • sport in the community
  • sports science or sports studies

Work experience would be beneficial.

Career path and progression

You may be able to move into senior roles within the Sector – leading teams of people or specialising with certain populations, particular sports or programmes.

Starting Salary

£18,000 to £23,000
