About us

Game Anglia is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company whose mission is to grow the video games industry in the East of England region using a grass-roots approach. We work with young people to create opportunities for them to learn new skills, meet and network with games industry professionals and legends and allow them to grow personally and professionally, as well as give them the skills needed to be able to get a job or start their own business.

Game Anglia has built a network of 2,000+ professionals from the games industry spread throughout the UK and Europe.

The east of England has more than 170 independent games companies making it one of the fastest growing local sectors, and our event brings together hundreds of developers, directors, artists, social media influencers, testers and community managers to give people a new and exciting snapshot of the video games industry - both from a consumer and career perspective.

We promote opportunities and events within the region that can benefit young people looking to get into the industry and have run several major 'Game Anglia' conferences ourselves.

Game Anglia Conferences

2019 saw us run our biggest events ever at both the University of Suffolk and at Norwich University of the Arts, focussing on the skills needed to join the Games Industry or start your own games.  (We also ran one at the University of Bedfordshire!)  These events included numerous topics and speakers.  You can take a look at the 2019 speakers on our website's homepage. Our open indie showcase allowed developers to demonstrate their latest wares from mobile games to virtual reality where the public can play for free, leave feedback and vote on their favourites as well as meet local studios and mingle with like-minded gamers.

Additionally the lineup broght together both Industry veterans and social media celebrities in a fascinating day of talks that will benefit gaming enthusiasts and those thinking about a career in games alike! It's a day that all gamers can look forward to with something for everyone.

Our 2018 event saw just over 500 people attending on the day from wide-eyed children to grizzled battle-worn developers, Game Anglia 2018 offered something for everyone. The 17 speakers across two tracks ensured that education was at the top ofthe agenda. From getting started in the industry to bug finding, testing and quality control, both students and experienced developers alike could take something away from the day.

A record breaking 28 indie games appeared at the show that included the mobile shooting game SHUMP, the Hamster beat-em-up Hamsterdam and the more serious ‘Before I Forget’ that looks at the distressing reality of a dementia sufferer.

The amazing Press Start Gaming Lounge also pulled out all the stops to offer visitors a fantastic VR section, meaning gamers could experience different types of VR games, from action classics to nerve bending balance games.

Watch this space for new and exciting events coming soon!
