What is NCS?

NCS is a life-changing programme open to all teenagers aged 15-17 to discover who they are and what they can do.

It’s your chance to explore, be inspired and find your passion. Over 500,000 young people have already taken part – will you be next?

Is it for me?
NCS is a four-phase programme specifically designed to provide you with all sorts of new experiences. Whether you’re a daredevil or creative genius, talkative or more reserved, you’ll be surprised by how much you’re actually capable of, coming away with a host of new skills and bags of confidence. If you want to boost your UCAS statement or CV, meet incredible people, get your voice heard and have a lot of fun while you’re at it, then NCS is for you

Who runs NCS?
Your NCS experience will be run by one of our incredible, dedicated partner organisations in your area. They’ll know your region and use their local knowledge and unique expertise to support and inspire you on your journey. We also work collaboratively with charities, not-for-profits and private sector organisations to enrich the experience for everyone who takes part, as well as your wider community. Together, we really can create long-lasting change – starting with you.

The programme

You’ve worked hard. After a busy year of coursework, revision and exams, NCS is the perfect way to kick back and try something completely different. At last you’re out of the classroom and into the great outdoors, discovering talents you never knew you had and making friends with some of the best people you’ll ever meet. Who knows, together you might even change the world a little bit while you’re there?

In 3-4 weeks achieve more than you ever imagined – all for only £50.

Feel the freedom of the outside world during five days away from home, taking on adrenaline-fuelled activities like rock climbing, canoeing and archery. Your team will cheer you along every step of the way, sharing in every challenge, every success. Then you’ll have a few days back at home for some much-needed rest!

Expect transformation, because this week is all about developing YOU. Living independently, you’ll learn essential life skills from local business leaders and charities, gain confidence in public speaking, communications skills and budgeting. It all looks great on your CV, whatever you do next.

Social Action

Now it’s time to make your mark. Back at home, you and your team will devise a community project based on an issue you feel passionate about. You have the skills and confidence to do anything – the more original, the better! This is your chance to feel proud by making a real difference in your community.

Finally, take stock of all you’ve achieved. You’ll have overcome challenges, pushed yourself into new and exciting territories, and had experiences you never thought possible. Celebrate your triumphs with your fellow NCSers at one great event before exploring all the opportunities NCS opens you up to.This is just the beginning!

Work on NCS

NCS is a life-changing programme open to all teenagers aged 15-17 to discover who they are and what they can do. If you’re successful, you’ll be inspiring young people as they gain skills for life, have a whole load of new experiences, and give back to their communities.

You’ll join a team committed to giving young people the best NCS experience possible as well as working closely with our partners who deliver the programme nationally. The programme typically lasts 3-4 weeks. The first two weeks are residential, while the rest happens back in the young people’s communities, so it’ll be a varied experience for you too.

If your experience is well-matched for one of the roles, you’ll be contacted by your local NCS partner and invited to complete a formal application. They’ll also be able to answer any queries you have. Click here to apply.
