Job Description

An Animal Nutritionist will design, develop and evaluate the diets of animals to maximise growth, reproduction, health and performance. They will research the effectiveness of different dietary regimes and assess the nutritional and economic value of feeding systems.

Entry Requirements

You can get this job through:

College

You could do a Level 3 Diploma in Animal Care or Applied Science.

You may need 4 or 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C), or equivalent, for a level 3 course.

Or your local 6th form may offer a relevant course.

University

You could do a higher national diploma or degree in: 

  • Agriculture or Agricultural Technology
  • Biomedical Sciences
  • Animal Management/Science
  • Dietetics
  • Biochemistry
  • Nutrition
  • Animal Science/Applied Animal Science
  • Veterinary Science
  • Animal Health and Welfare
  • Zoology

You will need 2 or 3 A levels, or equivalent for a degree.
