About us

The Ship Safe Training Group (SSTG) was founded over 35 years ago. We provide a recruitment and training service for over 30 shipping companies operating a wide variety of different ship types and the opportunity for pursuing a wide range of careers at sea.

Our success as a not-for-profit organisation is founded on our expert knowledge of the maritime industry, the close relationship with our extensive and diverse group of Member Companies, and in the unrivalled support that we give to all of our Officer Trainees whilst at college and at sea.

Opportunities at Sea

If you're interested in a career in the Marine industry, or some jobs in the Energy Industry then you've come to the right place!

Companies in these industries run to really strict safety standards, and the Ship Safe Training Group offers high quality, immersive training for those who want to work on board ships with fantastic, clear career progression to careers at sea - right up to ship captain after gaining experience.

The Merchant Navy provides opportunities for candidates to develop an exciting and secure career both at sea and perhaps later on shore. Qualifying for a career as a deck officer, engineer officer or a technical officer will open up a great many opportunities to work in interesting and demanding positions each with their own potential for personal development.

Career progression is really clear on ships and your progression is based on the number of years experience. You could be a Vessel Captain in 10 years if you're determined and hardworking in your training and other roles.

There are many other roles on ships: from commercial cargo ships to ferries and everything in between. Check out our website and follow us here and explore icanbea for the latest news and opportunities in the Marine industry.
