Over 22,000 started hairdressing, barbering or beauty apprenticeships in 2014/15 across the UK. Hairdressing is the 10th most popular apprenticeship in England and most salons will offer training placements, often leading onto permanent positions.

Hairdressing doesn't just mean working in a hairdressers, there are plenty of hairdressers who travel and offer an at home service, you can work for designers at fashion shows, there's also work on tv and film or even a personal hairdresser to the stars! Manufacturers of hair products and haircare brands also employ hair dressers as directors to work with their products and teach other brand ambassadors.
